THE DEVELOPMENT STORY

Robot Stu Studio is a UK-based solo indie game studio built around the development of What Has Happened. The project has grown over years of development, experimentation and rebuilding, with the game evolving from an early idea into the open-world psychological survival horror experience set across Black Hollow Isle.

As a solo developer, the work behind the game covers world building, level design, gameplay systems, optimisation, localisation, testing and the day-to-day development needed to bring the island to life. The journey has included major technical challenges and several rebuilds, but each stage has helped shape the atmosphere, mechanics and world that players will experience in What Has Happened.
